Green Bay Acme Packers The Green Bay Acme Packers, founded in 1919 (joined the NFL in 1921, now the Green Bay Packers) are the oldest NFL franchise with continuous operation in the same location. League membership gradually stabilized throughout the 1920s and 1930s as the league adopted progressively more formal organization.
The 32 NFL teams are split into two conferences: the National Football Conference and the American Football Conference, which were formed when the NFL merged with the American Football League in 1970. Each conference is made up of 16 teams, split into four divisions of four teams each – the North, South, East and West.
