Seven on seven football is a version of football that emphasizes passing and route-running. There are no pads in 7 on 7 football because there’s no tackling. The game is played on a 40-yard field and there are only two first downs. Players are downed when they’re touched below the neck.
Numbers were traditionally assigned based on a player’s position or reputation on the field, with the starting 11 players wearing 1 to 11, and the substitutes wearing higher numbers. The goalkeeper would generally wear number 1, then defenders, midfield players and forwards in ascending order.
All players must wear helmets. 7 defenders (may not line up 8 & drop one before snap) and 6 offensive players (must use a center or extra player to snap). Each possession starts on the 40-yard line – going in. First downs are made by crossing the 25-yard line and the 10-yard line.
The No. 7 shirt is reserved for wingers and second strikers, though there are some examples of legendary central strikers who have worn the shirt, thus giving the number classic status. 7 shirt has been synonymous with Ronaldo, the number following him during later moves to Real Madrid and Juventus.Mar 4, 2021
